Pat's posters to teach the skills (cognitive verbs) of writing - Primary: Individual Licence

Pat’s Primary Posters for teaching the General Capabilities (set of 20) are the most comprehensive resource yet developed for the explicit teaching the General Capabilities of the National Curriculum and NAPLAN.

This resource contains a framework for teaching many of the skills that are specified in the Australian Curriculum. The Posters link the skill, the questions to ask to guide the students as they develop the skill, graphic organisers and the language students should use to demonstrate the skill.

The posters are available to teachers in electronic form. The licence is an individual licence, which means that individual teachers can print poster sets for use within their classroom. Individual Licences should be paid for by individual teachers, not schools. It is assumed that if a school pays for the licence then it is a school licence and the full amount should be paid.

They are designed to enable teachers to explicitly teach the General Capabilities in the Primary School. Currently there are 20 in the set which support the explicit teaching of:

  • analysing
  • arguing/persuading
  • comparing/contrasting
  • decision making
  • describing
  • evaluating
  • explaining
  • generalising
  • giving more detail
  • inferring
  • interpreting
  • justifying
  • listing
  • locating/retrieving information
  • making connections
  • providing support
  • putting it together
  • retelling/recounting
  • solving problems
  • summarising

For a small cost logonliteracy will provide PD to schools (conditions apply) to support the use of the posters.
